Fareed Zakaria has pointed out that China is basically shooting itself in the foot in many ways, the lack of cooperation on the virus being only one of them.

Other than improving lab isolation procedures world wide, why does it matter?

I do remember reading that it appeared that the virus now known as COVID-19 evolved in India and migrated to China. It is possible that some scientists in China were trying to get a handle on it. Trump and his flying moneys needed to distract from Trump’s lack of action against a major health problem started shouting “Kung Flu” and “China virus” and later started claiming that the virus was engineered by China as a bio-weapon. Current thoughts that it MAY have escaped from a lab DO NOT mean that it is an engineered weapon, though they should be investigated. The Q-publicans are just trying to push more fake news.

You have to take into account the possibility that someone who worked in the lab caught the virus outside of the lab and then brought it in accidentally.

Is China’s reluctance to be transparent any different than the U.S. in 1918?
