A history professor at the University of Nebraska used to ask the following question on his final exam: “Does history make great men or do great men make history?” Choose one side and defend your answer with specific examples. If one defines “great” as “of an extent, amount, or intensity, considerably above the normal,” “considerable/substantial/pronounced”, the one can say that Kissinger made history. I find it difficult to call him a great man. But he did have a “great” impact on history.

RIP Sandra Day O’Connor. You were a great person, a great woman, a great American. You made great history.

Steve Schmidt says Kissinger’s legacy is:

He made a lot of money, he had a lot of power, and he killed a lot of people.

    .

    Remind you of anybody?

“I don’t take responsibility for ANY of it!”

He made a lot of mistakes. His crystal ball only went 20 years in the future. I used to be a fan but the results I have to admit, weren’t the best this far out.

Was it Kissinger who said of the US coup in Chile "Why should we allow them to have a communist government just because they voted for it "? Kind of summarized the Washington view of democracy in Latin America. They could freely have any government Washington gave them.

I think his greatest achievement is keeping Nixon’s train on the rails as Nixon was about to do what Trump attempted to stay in power.
