The absurd level of “classification” under Cheney’s paranoid increases made wikileaks all the more dangerous because there is no way to tell the difference between military planning for war, and the source of their toilet paper. Throw in the mess from “hacking”- and the best way to keep a secret may be to put it in newspapers.

As a former holder of a security clearance, I tend to disagree with the first post. This phenomenon goes in cycles. It mostly depends on the paranoia of the top brass. They want to keep embarrassing facts out of the paper. Genuine secrets are difficult to keep (as Franklin observed).
