Hmm, the biggest advantage of drones over satellites is that they can fly beneath cloud cover and provide more reliable “real time” data, but don’t reveal that much more detail than what satellites can provide. BTW, the Dan Ackroyd “Deal of the Century” film opened with a guy by his pool getting zapped by a laser from space, that isn’t exactly “science fiction” either.
The increase in allowing drones is going to be a huge pain in the neck for civil aviation, and even we who’ve long flown RC model planes (some larger than the drones being developed that are costing thousands of times more than our “hobby” craft, and have no greater capabilities!!).
Mother Nature has something waiting in the wings for us, including the 1% their money won’t protect them from. Reminds me, have you read Stephen King’s: The Stand?
Want scary, just go back and review what Rumsfeld/Cheney et al and the Project for a New American Century were calling for! Cheney’s “unitary executive” was one of the LEAST FRIGHTENING things these clowns dreamed of.

Does that really have to be a Presidential decision?

“No, it just could happen by state and not be overturned by the Supreme Court.”
Okay, thanks. I was fairly certain the President doesn’t have some of the powers that rwnj ascribe to him, regardless of what bush-cheney did.
