White Wealthy Men hated losing “The power” to anyone else, which I find interesting. White women did not rank, less wealthy white men did not rank, black or brown men did not rank and black or brown women obviously did not rank.
So a wealthy old white man of power like Mitch McConnell finds it very “rank” that black women are becoming a voting block with power. More power to them. And to all the groups that could not vote before.
Now if we can just let them vote we might have a democratic republic.

A Texas man was arrested on charges that he voted in the 2020 Democratic primary while on parole. He could face as much as 20 years in prison.
More than a year later, Rogers was arrested on charges that he voted in last year’s Democratic primary while on parole. Under Texas law, it is illegal for a felon to “knowingly” vote while still serving a sentence, including parole.
I don’t understand the resistance to showing your ID to vote. In Idaho we have had that law for quite some time and I cannot think of a more proud moment than when I get to show my ID to vote. I’m happy to participate in keeping our elections legitimate. I have to show my ID many times in a regular day… why would I be offended to show it to vote?
Here’s a thought experiment, and I know that the basic premise is quite a stretch—but the logic is airtight once that basic premise is accepted. WHAT IF Black (and brown) people tended to vote Republican, whereas white folks tended to vote Democratic? Would the Republicans try to suppress the votes of the aforementioned white folks? Why, of COURSE they would! The interesting thing to speculate upon would be what forms the voter suppression would take. Discuss amongst yourselves.
We are not politicians or public thinkers; we are the rich; we own America; we got it, God knows how, but we intend to keep it if we can by throwing all the tremendous weight of our support, our influence, our money, our political connections, our purchased Senators, our hungry Congressmen, our public-speaking demagogues into the scale against any legislature, any political platform, any presidential campaign that threatens the integrity of our estate. —Frederick Townsend Martin 1888
Funny stuff. Before Citizen’s United the name on the wheelbarrow was UNIONS.
All this did was level the field. Unions have been buying elections for 80-90 years, maybe longer.
I would be perfectly willing to stop ALL contributions from ALL groups, companies, unions, advocacy organizations, etc. But it has to be all or none. If corporations are not “people”, then that rule must be applied to ALL entities other than individual citizens.

When Republicans foisted “Citizens United” on America, what they meant was “Citizens united in reducing voter access for ‘those people’”.

I’m guessing that if Mitch McConnell ever lost an election, he would probably try to pull a Trump and claim his opponent stole his election.

[insincere apologies for trotting out this old song parody of mine—but it’s as relevant now as it was years ago when I first wrote the dang thing!]
The Supreme Court decided that a bribe can be nice
Only IF it’s a corporate bribe
They attack with their PACs and other such-like vice
But I don’t belong to that tribe
I don’t have the money
To buy polit’cal honey
Or give Congress my shirt and coat
My bribing funds are lacking
From pollution I am hacking
Oh, you can’t buy a vote with a vote
Without enormous bank loan
No candidate shall I own
So he can my burdens tote
Corporations don’t borrow
They buy (much to our sorrow)
Oh, you can’t buy a vote with a vote
With a vo-ote, with a vo-ote
Oh, you can’t buy a vote with a vote
A PAC’s love is epic
Though it makes me feel dyspeptic
And it gets both my sheep and goat
My resources for bribing
Are rapidly subsiding
Oh, you can’t buy a vote with a vote
They’ll spend a few U.S. mints
On TV advertisements
Each attack we will learn by rote
But in my dejection
I’ll sit OUT this election“Cause no power can I wield
In this uneven playing field
No, you can’t buy a vote with a vote
