I see Wuerker has been through California’s central valley a time or two.

This is the sort of comic magats would ban from schools lest some children might be exposed to an uncomfortable truth.

They do have one advantage over the Qatari guest workers—they’re not laboring in 125-degree heat. Yet.

We stopped vacationing in Arizona when we saw the hateful attitude they had toward their “foreign” workers. They absolutely NEED those workers, yet when the work day is over they prosecute them as though they were all criminals or targets of law enforcement abuse. Yes, the R’s in government, in Congress, refuse to work on a reasonable and viable immigration plan that would give those needed workers legal standing and a pathway to citizenship. They prefer to demonize the workers rather than have a plan. The Congress could start with the Dreamers. Why has that been so difficult? Because the R’s want to use it as a stick to beat the D’s rather than do something constructive.

Matt Wuerker may be the inheritor of the mantle of Thomas Nast, Herblock and Pat Oliphant as the best political cartoonist of his day. I wish he’d take over those duties at my hometown paper, the Washington Post (and Bezos would pay him what he deserves — he can afford it!).

Like it or not, capitalism has always depended on cheap resources to be exploited — be it workers or raw materials.

(Hence the transition from “Personnel” to Human Resources"? Hmmmm….)
