I’m rooting for a select committee that will hold public hearings and publish a public report. Coupled with the criminal investigations launched by the special counsel, it should prolong the trumpian circus and fubar the republicans’ legislative inanity until the 2018 elections when congress can be put into play.

Trump’s mental illness will insure the consistent swirl of madness, the special counsel will work the criminal side of the matter, and public hearings will shine a spotlight on the products of madness wrought by trumpy.

Impeachment, even including Pence, just digs the hole deeper because the line of succession has nothing but ideological midgets incapable of evidence based thinking that would enable legislative and policy compromise that would inure to the benefit of all of us.

In a perverse way, the country is lucky to have trumpy in the WH. The dysfunction prompted by his mental illness prevents the republicans from getting anything done. Plus, if they actually were to get legislation enacted prior to the 2018 elections, the negative fallout from that legislation is likely to further tarnish them with the vast majority of the electorate.

It is too bad we have to lurch from pillar to post, but the eventual outcome of the current trump-induced maelstrom “could” hamper the right wing for many years. Just remember mental illness of this profundity does not cure itself, particularly in an ignorant 70 year old man of subpar intelligence who has no self awareness whatsoever.

The blue (and white) collar, working, middle class has not been served well -— they feel -— by “Compassionate conservatism” or “Hope and change” and now it seems they want to reverse the beneficiaries of government and “Make America great again” (with a touch of nationalism and fascism) to bring back the standard of living and status that they imagined to have existed once upon at time.

Yep, it’s too soon, but hang in there he’ll make it happen at some point. Man’s too damn dumb not to.
