Total misrepresentation as usual. And who were the thugs that turned up and started violence with masks on? Must have been the young Nazis club as the police didn’t stop them m

Going to college does make you smarter. It does so by providing you exposure to different points of view and an environment where you can express and either exercise or exorcise those thoughts and ideas. It is the only time in life where you will be this free to express whatever enters your head.

The only people who do not benefit from college are closed minded, rigid thinking individuals who are inert when it comes to exposure to new ideas. If you;re going to college to learn that 1+1=2, then you are wasting your time and money. College was never about that and never should be. It’s not a vocational school and should never be treated as such.

College teaches you how to think, not what to think. Conservatives get this wrong every time, mostly because they are afraid of new ideas, and the change that comes with it.

A reporter asked a junior jihadist who was chanting “From the river to the sea,” which river and which sea. She stood there like a deer in the headlight and could not answer the question.

    Nice artwork as usual.

Don’t think that there’s any outward condition that makes one smarter (although there are some that make one stupider, e.g., lead poisoning).

The American Education system has been in a dive since the 30s. In those days they had communists and pro-Hitler professors. The media had Walter Duranty saying how great the U.S.S.R was.

The violence is in large part encouraged by non students. And, when this is all over, investigations will find that political motivated radicals were involved.

Just like the age-old custom of degrading young people, many of those disparaged college students seem to have forgotten their own experiences. Otherwise, college is not supposed to make you smarter. It’s supposed to make you more educated. In that, Ramirez is a good example. Certainly, he got educated, but clearly, he didn’t get any smarter.

Wrong, Mike. These well-supported terrorists aren’t demanding that we “Ignore Oct 7 atrocities”. They’re advocating that the atrocities be repeated 10,000 times.

The Los Angeles police finally got it right by making sure the terrorists’ faces were well exposed while they were being frog-marched away from campus. So, Burger King, which employee would you rather hire? The one with the clean record, or the one who was arrested for advocating “Death to Zionists”?

If I was a parent of one of those idiotic Hamas wannabes I’d cut off the money immediately. And if I was the parent of a Jewish student I’d demand the university refund the money I paid for tuition.

I’m fascinated to see this movement spread so widely and so quickly. This kind of movement is rarely just about the ostensible topic of protest. I suspect these demonstrations are an indication of a deep distress in young people today. That doesn’t mean they are right or wrong. But perhaps it’s worth thinking about. In case anyone cares, I am not totally in support of the demonstrations. Largely, but not totally. I fear the rise of a new antisemitism.

Student protests are not new, but can be either productive or destructive. In the 1960s student protests brought an end to the draft and an end to the war in Vietnam. Today’s student have an opportunity to do much more.

Breaking the law, being destructive and getting arrested is not solving the issue they protest. The issue for both sides is to end the killing in Israel and Palestine. The Palestinian people do not support Hamas’ terrorism, and the Israeli people do not support Netanyahu’s policies towards Palestine, Palestinians or the illegal settlements he directs that violate agreements dating back to 1948.

Our college students are the best and brightest and are the future leaders of the world. They have what we didn’t have in the past, the internet. We’ve seen online and in the media Israelis demonstrating against Netanyahu. Israeli students don’t want to have to fight and defend Israel for all their lives. They want to live in peace. The students here, both Palestinian and Jewish, should end the religious bigotry between them, and then reach out via the internet to band together with Israeli students in Israel, and then any students from other countries. An international coalition of students would bring pressure to end the war, bring a real peace, and make the future leadership of the world happen today.

I remember some students taking over a campus building in 1973. The university shut off the water, power and natural gas – in the dead of winter in upstate NY. Took about three days for them to vacate, some vandalism but not much.

You can be concerned about the indiscriminate deaths of civilians in Gaza and not be an anti-Semite or pro-terrorists. The right has conflated all three to avoid criticism, but it’s not working this time.

I’d like to ask a simple question. In the US at the moment there is a substantial grouping in the population who believe they have the legitimate right to be regarded as the native people of the country even if they have not been there as long as some other groups. They also believe that they are being displaced by more recent immigrants who are imposing an alien religious and cultural authority on the nation. Call them right wing, MAGA, tea party Republicans, whatever. Basically this is what has happened to the Palestinians. And yet there seems very little sympathy for them among this group. Instead they are supported by those who believe in open borders, internationalism and cultural diversity. This seems rather contradictory. Why is it?

Biden was very clear with his answer today when asked if any of the college and university protests are having any effect on his foreign policy decisions related to Israel, Palestinians, et al. His answer: a clear NO.

So everyone, quit protesting! No one in the White House is listening.
