Yeah, it’s really disgraceful to have enough personnel to do the job required of the IRS in a timely manner, as well as the equipment to do the job correctly. Lester, are you still using XP? A lot of IRS offices have no choice because they haven’t been funded adequately to upgrade and maintain their systems. And it’s all paper-based as if we were back in 1974…

Well that’s four fascist comments by people literally pulling for “The Tax Collector” -traditionally the villain in every book movie story fable for centuries. But wait there’s more: they’ll also call me a fascist proving they don’t know the meaning of the word which is why I love free speech -you get to prove what you don’t know.

The IRS is the Secret Police of the Bureaucratic State. They know who you are, where you live, who all family is, how much money you make, where you make it, were you spend it, your bank, your investments, your phone number, ISP, on and on and on. They are looking to hire 87,000 additional agents, as many of them as they can with firearm experience. If this doesn’t scare you, it should.

Republicans spent the week demonizing the FBI following its search of Mar-a-Lago for classified documents, and one of their followers responded, attacking an FBI office with an AR-15 and a nail gun. But it’s not just the FBI in the sights of Republicans. They’re simultaneously attacking the IRS—often in the same terms they’re using to attack the FBI. And once again, it’s working on their followers. Fox News spews this nonsense and the gullible halfwits here parrot it. It is way past time for Fox to be charged with stochastic terrorism and held accountable.

IRS “Field Agents” do not carry guns, are not allowed to carry guns, and would be terminated from their positions if caught on duty carrying a gun. The only IRS employees authorized to carry guns are the Special Agents in the Criminal Investigation Div. who do NOT conduct audits. There are a very, very small number of them in comparison to the rest of the work force.

Republican lies are gonna get Federal Employees killed for… what exactly? To protect a traitor?

Pretty much just replacing the agents who have and are retiring is not raining agents. I filed electronically and did not itemize in February. Still waiting on my small refund because the IRS is critically short handed. Mike wouldn’t know the truth if it bit him.

The IRS has computer programs to check most returns, only takes a minute, unless there is a mistake. The additional help is for returns that go for pages and pages, prepared by a team of professional that know all the tricks.Up till now , they were left alone, nobody had the time. Now ,we will see.

Decades ago, I made an error on my tax form. The IRS caught it, sent us a check for 900+ dollars. In general, I am not a fan of bureaucracies. However, they are necessary. “Horror” stories get the spotlight; the workers there are just people. To blanket generalize is simple-minded.

So the staffing will be phased in over a period of ten (10) years, to positions already vacant because the Republicans have underfunded and denuded that department’s staff (mostly support staff like admin, IT, and customer service calls – not agents) every year they controlled Congress. The effort is expected to return $200+ Billion annually in revenue from wealthy tax scofflaws. The Trump-appointed director, Yellen, has assured jittery Republicans that those making less than $400k annually are not being targeted at all.

Omigod! It’s another “fascist” comment! Why? Because it contains fascist facts! And “phased in over ten years” mean that IRS agents will be knocking on Joe Six-Pack’s door today!

Besides, there’s nothing else going on in Maga la-la land of any importance, is there?

No, it will be raining IRS processors, IT professionals, etc. There will be stepped up enforcement, of course. And I know how much Republicans hate law enforcement—they’re showing us an unhealthy heap of that right now.

So you Cons don’t want any new taxes on the books. You don’t want the enforcement power to collect the taxes we do have on the books. What is your suggestion for collecting revenue to stop the evil abortionists and keep gays from marrying?

Comic Man – are these politicians who you rely on to tell the truth?

Do you make $75,000 or less? Democrats’ new army of 87,000 IRS agents will be coming for you—with 710,000 new audits for Americans who earn less than $75k.— Kevin McCarthy (@GOPLeader) August 9, 2022

If you think the federal government is out of control now, God help us when you get 87,000 new IRS agents who are looking under every rock and stone to get money out of your pocket. pic.twitter.com/DtHBB9atA3— Lindsey Graham (@LindseyGrahamSC) August 10, 2022

Why won’t Democrats add 87,000 school resource officers instead of IRS agents?— Rep. Mark Green (@RepMarkGreen) August 11, 2022

After todays raid on Mar A Lago what do you think the left plans to use those 87,000 new IRS agents for?— Marco Rubio (@marcorubio) August 9, 2022

The FBI raids Trump’s house and the Democrats vote to add 87,000 new IRS agents to go after Americans. Wake up, America.— Richard Grenell (@RichardGrenell) August 8, 2022

If the FBI can raid the home of a former US President, imagine what 87,000 more IRS agents will do to you.— Jim Banks (@RepJimBanks) August 8, 2022

The trouble with all this is, well, it’s bulls#it. That 87,000 estimate represents everything from IT techs to customer service people who answer the phone and help you file your return. Second, it includes attrition. For some perspective, the IRS workforce last year totaled 78,661 full-time equivalent positions—down from 94,709 a decade earlier. And no, the IRS is not doubling its workforce. Republican politicians know this. But they are lying to make it sound as though jack-booted thugs dispatched by the Democrats are about to come knock down your front door. And folks like you just eat this deceitful rhetoric up like candy GET AN EFFING CLUE !!!

Apparently Mike Lester is unfamiliar with a book commonly known as the “New Testament.” In the Gospel of Luke, Jesus tells a parable, most commonly known as the Pharisee and the Publican, but frequently referred to as that of the Pharisee and the Tax Collector. Spoiler Alert: Jesus made the publican-tax collector the good guy and the Pharisee the bad guy. Mike Lester, arguing against Jesus again.

GOV STAFFERS BY DIVISION: Dept of Defense 27K, State Dept 23K, FBI 35K, Customs and Border 60K, IRS 165K (after adding 85K new agents). Let’s pretend the R’s take over in Nov and all those taxes collected (there aren’t enough billionaires to make a dent) and they suddenly start NOT funding liberal initiatives like THE GREEN NEW DEAL ACT (it’s true name) and Pro Life centers start popping up (they already outnumber abortion clinics) -my guess is the left isn’t going to be happy w the allocation of their taxes. And then it gets better: Biden doesn’t run.

    Thanks for your comments. -ML

So. Are you, like so many others, ready to go to the mattresses in support of that guy?

They are threatening the lives and families of the FBI and LEOs. You willing to go into the tiger enclosure with them?
