I went to Canada often during the 70’s and 80’s. (Quebec & the Maritimes) I wonder how I would be received if I went to Montreal now?

Our neighbors to the north took approximately 7,000 Americans into their hearts and homes when they were stranded after their planes were grounded on 9/11.

The US has a convention days after a massacre where they read the names of the dead but then goes on to have a giveaway of the same model of rifle that was used and includes 1,000 rounds of ammunition.

Does that make the difference between the two nations clear enough?

That characiture of the American perfectly depicts the right wing maga scum element of our society. Lovely picture of people like squiggles, maggot Riki, sun, Murphy, ammo, Rosie, and their cohorts who post their garbage on this site.

Reagan thought we could be the great shining city on the hill. The rest of the world views us as a bunch of whack jobs who elected an idiot like Trump, who care only about guns, who allows our citizens to go bankrupt because they got sick and couldn’t afford the hospital.

But no truth to the rumors that Canada is considering a border wall to protect itself from all the RW crazies in the U.S.

Our congress does nothing because they are afraid they will lose all their individual power by not getting re-elected. They don’t represent their constituents as much as they do their donors. Time to make some changes !

Over the years my foreign colleagues have expressed a variety of emotions about Americans, but since 2016 the main one is pity.

Canada is not free of this problem.

    https://bridge.georgetown.edu/research/christchurch-anniversary-the-islamophobic-great-replacement-theory/:

“Like his “great replacement” predecessors, Bissonnette had previously stated that he was totally against Muslim immigration, because he thought that brown-skinned immigrants would take over neighborhoods, hurt the economy, and increase unemployment for white people.”.

Bissonette murdered 6 Muslims in Quebec City, Quebec in 2017. And there are other countries; Christchurch, NZ, and Hanau, Germany, and Norway.

Of course, other countries tend to do something when such an event occurs. We don’t.

Considering the voting in last week’s primaries, where pretty much all of Trump’s endorsed candidates were trounced by non MAGAt Republicans, I not only have hope for the country, I’m seeing a glimmer of sanity returning to the Republican party.

This is a very telling cartoon and quite accurate. It goes beyond not making eye contact with the crazy and into the fear of infection. Canada, of course has it’s own nutjobs, but they have been limited by a lack of access to guns. Lately, though, Guns are being smuggled in increasing numbers, and gun crimes are replacing knife crimes, with a corresponding increase in fatalities .

Canada has more sensible gun laws than ours, the metric system, dollar coins instead of germy currency, a better flag than ours, a better national anthem than ours, WAY better health care than ours, and more lakes than the rest of the world put together. Now if only they could do something about those winters …
