That would obviously and severely impact the supply of assault rifles in the United States, disrupting the Republican’s ‘weaponizing of America’ agenda. To the NRA and their Republican Party, we need to slaughter our children first before we slaughter other countries’ children.
You can’t buy two bottles of Sudafed because you might be going to cook meth. But, an 18 year old can buy assault weapons and hundreds of rounds of ammunition without any oversight or anyone blinking an eye.
If we don’t support the Ukranians, the Putin will keep going till he owns all of Europe. This is the third country in Europe he has invaded. He practiced in Syria and has all but destroyed that country. Russians have no freedom of the press.
A hand grenade would have been less deadly in that classroom full of 4th graders in Uvalde, Texas than the AR-15 the killer used. Possession by the general public of live hand grenades has been outlawed since the Crime Control Act of 1968. We’ve got to find a way of outlawing the general use of weapons that are more dangerous than hand grenades. Military style assault weapons and ammunition fall into that category. Why can’t we be reasonable about this and save some lives ?
I qualified on the M-16 in the army. One of the things we chanted often when we marched with our rifles was this vague little phrase " This my p## p## this is my gun ". The US Army needed to remind us immature 18-year-olds of something. It was a very important reminder. I was a fixed ciphoney repairman in signal corp. so after that, I requalified every year. That was the only time I shoot one. I never owned an AR-15. I own two rifles. One of them is a muzzleloader hawking .58 caliber it is fun and scary to shoot. I respect the hell out of it. Believe you me. I tend to be more in line with raising the age of ownership to 21. Licenses to require safety knowledge including checking on a range and responsibility. The real issue is not the weapon but the mental state of the owner. There is a handful of gun enthusiasts I know the look at their weapons as tools. Most it is like their big truck, bike of a fast car. It represents their manhood. The reason for that is the issue.I do support 2nd amendment as all others. They also can be adjusted. I am more concerned about the alt-right Christain nationalist as any other fascist because they ALWAYS will take weapons away for those not in the ranks
For both sides more so for my fellow progressive I posted these three links:
This man has just a thought on the subject. Like he said sit through the first video.
The Girl Scouts of America has awarded its Bronze Cross (an award to a Girl Scout who saved or tried to save a life or lives, at risk to her own life) to a 10 year old girl.
Posthumously.
That an award is given to a 10 year old who died in a mass shooting ought to be enough for the NRA/ILA to stop BS’ing us all and to start them working towards supporting common sense gun control measures that have been proven to be effective all around the world.
But it won’t.
And it won’t change the minds… sorry, they don’t have one… conscience… Oops! My bad again… Let me start again…
And it won’t change any of those soulless, brainless, heartless Jellyfish buttholes in congress who sent out freakin’ Christmas pictures of their families, including small children, holding assault rifles and pistols.
May they all rot in the deepest fiery pits of hell.
My favorite Luckovich anti-gun cartoon has an image of the Capital. Byline: Congress acts on gun control………when congressmen die during a mass shooting inside the Capital.

Too bad we can’t parachute all our well armed right-wing gun crazies behind Russian lines. But they’d defect to Russia.

Let all the wanna-be soldiers volunteer over in Ukraine and see what it’s like when someone’s actually firing back at you.

Maybe the US could institute a buy back for assault rifles and send them to Ukraine…
Kill two birds with one stone.
