The guy who was in charge (and claims he didn’t even know it) should resign and apologize. Profusely. And then go get a job as a crossing guard in Wisconsin or somewhere far far away. The other cops on the scene not QUITE so much, but they have to be embarrassed at best and in an agony of regret if they’re as humane as one may hope they are.
The officer supposedly in command, who was totally unqualified and useless to anyone other than the killer, had very recently been appointed by the Uvalde city council. The worthless mush-brain was a slam-dunk as an appointee, so far as the council was concerned, due to him being a council member himself. The council needs to have a lot bigger spotlight on it than it has so far gotten. Forget the spotlight, Lots of torches in the hands of the suffering families would be far more deserved.
Can someone explain to me, why anyone thinks they need an AR-15? I’m serious, here, what reasons do they give, when asked? Protection ? Sport? I’m at a loss to understand why gun shops are full of these things. Money, of course. But does the average gun owner give this as a reason?
Don’t be too hard on them. Everyone thinks of themself as Wyatt Earp or the Lone Ranger until they’re faced with the reality of bullets coming at THEM. Then it’s live coward looks so much better than dead hero…
Yeah, that’ll work just about as well as hiding under a wooden school desk would protect you from the effects of a Nuclear Explosion… “DUCK AND COVER!!!”
(Remember them?? Growing up in Florida during the early 60s, 90 miles from Cuba, I sure do!)
The police couldn’t handle the situation. They couldn’t even figure out how to open an unlocked door. But a teacher with minimal training is going to be just fine when the shooting starts.
More people with more guns is not the answer to gun violence.
I didn’t fact check that fat out-of-shape PD Chief liar was a good ol’ local boy with minimal education who did not take training seriously or may have pencil-whipped it as having done it. If the Uvalde area is like where I live they reward those “who grew up here and are one of us” as they discard much better qualified applicants.

It now comes out that the classroom door wasn’t even locked and the cops had ballistic shields and high powered rifles.

I hope you are afraid of AR-15! He’s a killer! I mean, I’m scared thinking about the Florida gators this year!
