Why is it that since 1950 all of the really horrible federal politicians have been members of the Republican Party. Joseph(tail gunner Joe)McCarthy-R-Senator WI who used demagogic behavior, reckless and unsubstantiated accusations as well as public attacks on the character or patriotism of political opponents thruout his career as a Senator. Richard Nixon-R-CA-Vice President 1953-1961. President 1968-1974. Who resigned in the face of certain impeachment and conviction of trial by the Senate. Several of his aides, including the head of the DOJ, were convicted and imprisoned of various crimes all under the umbrella heading of Watergate. Ronald Reagan-R-CA-President 1981-1989. tripled the Federal Debt and gave us the Iran-Contra affair. GW Bush-R-TX-President from 2001-2009-gave us more tax cuts along with 2 unfunded wars(Afghanistan and Iraq) which in turn more than tripled the national debt(Bush 43 VP was Dick Cheney who famously stated that ‘deficits don’t matter’) Along with the Great Recession(aka Second Great Depression) Donald Trump republican President 2017-2021)whose supporters staged an insurrection on Jan 6 which according to some disrupted an attempted coup(with full knowledge of Trump, pushed by some appointees in both DOD and DOJ to force his remaining as President) using his VP along with several GQP members of the House and Senate-the attempted coup was disrupted by the storming of the Capital building(insurrection) by Trump supporters on Jan 6. Trump also stands accused of stealing Govt documents(including at least 100 highly classified documents which were discovered during the execution of a federal search warrant by the FBI at his resort home in FL after the NARA spent more than a year attempting to get Trump to give them back) The current iteration of the former GOP has managed to elect several people who should never have been allowed to run in 2022 due to their actions both before and during the Jan 6 insurrection/coup attempt

At least half of those sycophants are undoubtedly nationalist Christians (or, as I like to call them, nat-Cs).
