Moderately Confused by Jeff Stahler for December 04, 2024

I look in the mirror and wonder why my dad is looking back at me.

I look in the mirror and wonder see my grandmother looking back at me.

I look in the mirror and cry..

I look in the mirror, and say, ‘Yay, Team! Still vertical, still breathing.’

I thought that too…

I see a lot of my mom in me.

I’ve always liked the age I am at.

But I do like to use the line from the first Indiana Jones movie, “It’s not the years; it’s the mileage.” There’s a lot of mileage on my body both literally and figuratively and I ain’t done yet.

And, if I had known that I would live this long, I’d have taken better care of my body

When you’re 5, 1 year is 20% of your life. When your 50 it is only 2%. And it gets faster the older you get.

Age is proportional to the number and length of the hairs sprouting from your nose. And your ears.

When I look in the mirror, I see my maternal grandmother.

Didn’t we all

My students and I were ‘doing the dozens’. They ’you’re old.’ [I was about 50.] You’re bald. [I claimed it was a little mosquito picnic area at my topknot.] You’re fat. [Had a slight tummy shelf for catching crumbs] You’re bowlegged. [Only slightly out of alignment :) ] I gave as good as I got and we had a lot of laughs.

Than I told them that within about 40 years, they’d look in the mirror one day and see the face of the older relative they most resembled looking back at them.

I told them also that they would also see my face in there looking over their shoulders and I would be laughing.

Well that was 39 years ago. I can still hear the sounds of ‘What the heck?!!’ and ‘How the Hell did I get that old so soon!!?’

I’m still laughing.

Didn’t we all?

It just seems longer. :)

Time flies when you’re having fun.

I would make a good vampire. I avoid looking in mirrors. Though i never thought i was a looker at any age though I’ve had GF who (charitably?) disagreed

All my life I heard how brief is our existence on this earth, but I never believed it until now.

I know quite a few guys who started going bald and/or going gray in their 20’s!

Growing older is easy, there will be a point when one starts shrinking or getting shorter. How’s your bone density?

I had always looked like my mother and her mother. Now, though, since I have already outlived both of them by at least 20 years, the only person I see in the mirror is me.

Didn’t we all? I don’t recognize the face in the mirror, but I still have a full head of hair.

Nope. Sometimes it happens in a matter of days.

Good for him for thinking “growing older.” I’m 65, and while I know I have no choice about growing older, I absolutely refuse to grow old.

How did I get this old this fast?
