Sesame Street had a rather clever take off on this kind of situation. Look up “What’s the Name of That Song?” on YouTube or Google.

I need a hero

Had that happen and very annoying for a week till I figured it out. I had the right tune and wrong lyrics.

When I don’t know the lyrics, I just make em up.

“Hey uh I need a something something”. I remember that tune. It was by Whatsisname and the Thoseguys.

Oh thank goodness he didn’t mention the song!

Happened to me yesterday. I heard a part of bible verse that was included as a song lyric. I couldn’t think of the song and that’s the sort of thing that drives me crazy. Fortunately, google figured it out for me.

Ah, yes . . . “The Song That Never Ends” Hahaha! :-P

Over the years, I’ve heard many many songs on OPR (other people’s radios) without ever bothering to find out who did them or trying to understand the lyrics. In college, I worked not quite full time in a restaurant, and the radio or jukebox was always going, so I heard the same things over and over. Even the songs that I never cared much about can set off memories or become ear worms if something reminds me of them. Lately the muzak in grocery stores has been doing that to me.

What you have is a humming in the head.

It’s Uneeda Biscuit. I think. I can’t remember the stanzas. It’s been too long. The chorus sticks with me.

“Hey hey, I need a biscuit! Baby baby, I need a biscuit!

Do you dare – would you share – your biscuit with meeeee?”

Do you remember? Husker Du?

Just as well. Don’t sing with your mouth full! :)

A case so bad, I remember it from 50 years ago, Laying awake in bed, I had all the words and music in my head, except the name SHAFT !

You mean this doesn’t happen to everyone?

if it’s in Monty’s head, it’s probably “If I Only Had a Brain”

I had a newer Elton John song lyric running through my brain for MONTHS with pauses. “We were crazy, wild and running, blind to the change to come.” Except that I couldn’t quite make them out, so I couldn’t figure out where the lyric came from.

I remember the words but the words are worse than the tune, for me

Some guys I paddle with would have earworm contests. Worst one wins. I won with Bobby Goldsboro: “See the tree, How big it’s grown…”
