They will come back—come back again—as long as the red Earth rolls.

He never wasted a leaf or a tree. Did you think He would squander souls?

    Or…

The lights were working hard creating new souls. With procreation running wild they were putting in all kinds of overtime work. All, except one. The laziest one always met it’s quota, yet never worked OT and spent much of it’s time at the water cooler. When the others found out he was just reusing existing souls they were outraged. He knew he had to think fast, because the CS called him into it’s office. That’s when he invented the term “recycling” and convinced the CS to make it policy. And it really did make things better for everyone.

How far can we push this metaphor? Souls are a resource and sin is a pollutant?

The idea that we die and are reborn is fundamental to the universe. BUT, not exactly as in immediate rebirth. Our solar system is the rebirth of the death of a second or third generation star. All on Earth are rebirths of that death and any life it held. Then to take regeneration a step further, all life here today is rebirth made from past generations of life here.

I like it! Makes for a Good Story. I personally suspect reality is a bit more prosaic, along the lines that nothing is ever created or destroyed, things just change phase. Matter and Energy are artificial constructs to describe a spectrum. We think we have an idea of how that works, but how does gravity fit in? “Life”? Probably just another aspect, but no clue how it relates. I’ve no idea if it is real but I suspect the basics behind the Hindu (and other beliefs) idea that the ‘soul/spirit/whatever’ adds a layer with each episode of connection to a corporal body may have some validity. Some layers are positive, others can be negative. The result is a balance between the layers. Hmmmm, sounds kinda like Karma, doesn’t it?
