It is clear to me, if the president avoids involvement he is an ineffective leader, if he engages he is a war monger. Clearly the right is still upset that we have a democratic president. They are getting ready for another government shut down and would like to start another trillion dollar war so that defense production can be stepped up to replace all of the equipment that is destroyed or given away. Time for another vote to revoke Obama care and another Benghazi committee.
The real issue is where ARE our Sec Ops folks around the world already, and do we really want it to be “public” just to make politics at home? There is sound rationale for folks to keep their mouths shut, especially about what our intelligence gathering folks are up to.
The best thing on Syria is however, keep everyone else out who doesn’t actually live in the region, and then, even some of them.
We’ve proven very good since WW II (at least) and destroying countries, especially in the Middle East, all to protect one we created with the U.N., which has started most of the trouble since.

I think Obama has thrown those sticks over his shoulders, and is intentionally striding into the morass.
