“Beers to this side pls, Whiskeys over there, Vodkas… in that corner pls, Gin and tonic.. right out on the pavement, and what do you mean by Wine?!? Of course not, are you nuts – do we look like fine dining to you… " Anyways, after 7 pm it is all just alcohol anyways.
The only thing that can/will get us to over our tribalism is some threat to all of us so great we have no choice but to come together. Like WW2 did, oh, but wait, some of that ideology our forebears sought to defeat survived and is now trying to take over half of our government. Don’t we humans ever learn…?
I saw a solution that might work. It was on an old Cheers episode. One of the obnoxious patrons, wanted to become more likable. So he came into the bar wearing a shock collar. He asked a pal to give him a jolt every time he said something obnoxious. I laughed til I cried. Google cliff Calvin shock collar episode on you tube.
People disagree about all sorts of things — Packers vs. Bears, Democrats vs. Republicans, Coke vs. Pepsi, steak vs. pork chops, cats vs. dogs, Chevy vs. Ford, beach vs. mountains, romances vs. mysteries, and so on — but the only disagreements that lead them to disown, shun, exile, persecute, torture, and kill each other are the ones over religion. Why is that? Damned if I know! I can only point to the subtitle of Christopher Hitchens’s book on the subject, God Is Not Great: How Religion Poisons Everything.

There are many things worse than a serious “Happy Hour”. But when booze and opinions run free, no one is really happy.

Better pause to reconsider, Mickey. You will for sure lose any Democratic Party business.
