That’s not correct. The British system of Copyright was set up in 1710.
Looks like a pirated copy.
Wiser than average kids.
Does the map show a port — Kenney Bunk Port?
It’s not the copyright date that proves the map is fake, it’s that the copyright date was printed in the Papyrus typeface which was created in 1982.
Danae is usually slightly off the rails. Wonder where they’ll end up?
I think the My Pillow Guy is selling the maps too, guaranteed.
I sense a mutiny coming.
Anyone else see an (almost) homage to Charles Schultz here?
1763 is the 18th century.
Danae never quits when she is behind…
Know when to fold ’em.
When proven wrong, either “double down” and dig a deeper hole, attack the person delivering the message either by insulting their intelligence or by accusing them of a “witch hunt”, point to something else and yell, “LOOK OVER THERE – SHINY THING,” or its corollary: somebody else is more wrong than me (a non sequitur), or make up your own facts on the spot or just declare it fake news.
I’m not quite sure I’ve seen Danne’s approach before – acknowledge you’re wrong but go on anyway.
The desire for treasure temporarily out-weighed reason for back-up singers, Fern and the Geniuses, but they’ve now seen the light. Wonder if Darrin also noted it was done with felt tip on ruled notebook paper.
Is this a very tame version of ‘’Treasure Island’’?
(One of my recommended reads, by the way.)
The treasure is in the journey, not the X spot.
Captain Kenny Bunk!!!!! Nice inside joke for folks familiar with Maine towns. I have a cousin who lives in Kennebunk.
Can’t tell you how many times i have had this conversation with someone; and not all of them children.
So funny — Kenny Bunk is actually Kennebunk and there is Kennebunkport and also Kennebec — we have all the “Kennes” here in Maine.
I’m sensing a mutiny in that scurvy private crew. Arrrrr….gh!
“Never let facts deter you on your quest to be most greatest”paraphrase from his Orange mess
….. and the 18th century was the 1700’s. Hee hee
And the United States passed the Copyright Act in 1790.
Lol…from a resident of Kennebunkport. Love this comic strip and went to online subscription after a local paper dropped it over a minor faux pas in print occurred a couple of years ago.
Kenny Bunk would later have a port named after him.
Mutiny! They be mutiny-ing! Over pie-rat booty! Har!
Isn’t that the guy who had a brand of Port wine? Kenny Bunk Port?
If it’s a secret map, why copyright it?
“I know it’s real! It gives a website, and the website said, ‘The treasure map is real!’”
The crew has finally mutinied.
Never let it be said that Danae is a Quitter.
She will ignore them.
