Why does everyone reply directly to the troll? That just makes their comment the featured comment. And as usual, they are just projecting, since their side is the one with the obvious disconnect from reality.

Captain Joe also has declared the border is secure, the exit from Afghanistan was a success, and the economy is doing great.

Interestingly, the new troll could be right IF Democrats become complacent and think we are safe from the evil of the MAGA crowd. We might thin we have this election in the bag because no sane person would ever vote for the adulterous, rapey, fraudster who loves dictators and promised to become on “just for a day” — but despite the strongest economic recovery from COVID in the world, we are not safe. We have to get EVERYBODY out to vote like our freedom depends on it. Because if we don’t, our freedom as Americans is sunk.

Women, minorities, Jews, Muslims, Gays, Trans, immigrants, migrants, books, Bud Light, M&Ms, drag shows, Taylor Swift and crime in cities they will never visit.

We know the Captain isn’t a MAGAT snowflake. They are terrified of everything. They hate everything about this country except for the flag.

I’ve had a personal motto for about the past 50 years. “It is of little comfort to me that it is not my end of the boat that is sinking.”

Thing is, hardly anybody has stopped to look back to see what it was that had us heading in the right direction, imperfect as we were, and how we (to a large extent) gave it up about 100 years ago.

Nice allegory to how our leaders view climate destruction because of the massive changes we have wrought. Humans wait until they have to respond to disasters, not prepare for them.

Let me recommend the 2005 book by academic and popular science author Jared Diamond Collapse: How Societies Choose to Fail or Succeed, in which the author first defines collapse as “a drastic decrease in human population size and / or political / economic / social complexity, over a considerable area, for an extended time.” In it, he cites half a dozen historical examples of how certain cultures met their ends. And clearly they must have seen it coming, yet did nothing (or too little) to prevent it. But those were isolated groups — on islands, in valleys, in remote states — and humanity on the rest of the planet survived. The same cannot be said about global climate change.

Wikipedia also mentions the common factor in most of those societal implosions: “The root problem in all but one of Diamond’s factors leading to collapse is overpopulation relative to the practicable (as opposed to the ideal theoretical) carrying capacity of the environment. One environmental problem not related to overpopulation is the harmful effect of accidental or intentional introduction of non-native species to a region.”

As long as we are being political, what are those of us who are sane and logical going to do with the maga crowd after the election ? Probably just like a nasty rash that keeps coming back and you can’t get rid of. Just have to endure.

THE TITANIC—-They were so sure nothing would happen that they only had half the number of lifeboats needed to evacuate the ship. And the first boats left half-full becausethey couldn’t convince people there was trouble.
