It’s no more silly than arguing that a scientific theory is just a guess. Germ theory, economic theory, atomic theory, numbers theory, theory of general relativity, theory of special relativity, etc.

The Constitution and Congress never enacted a law of gravity, so that must be why we’re doing so well with our space program.

People didn’t float around before Isaac Newton. Galileo knew we didn’t float around. Something he couldn’t understand kept that from happening. It might have been magic. It might have been God. Newton explained it was gravity. And the Deists decided Newton was God and they didn’t need the old one any more.

Gravity may keep things in place but compared to other forces, it is actually very weak. Look at a refrigerator magnet. The magnetic force from that little piece of metal is much stronger than the gravitational force of the entire planet.

The logic works … for some people. If you don’t want something to exist, simply stop believing in it.

As Adam Savage (MythBusters) said, “I reject your reality and substitute my own.”

Isaac didn’t invent gravity. He wrote an instruction manual using a new kind of math so that nobody could figure how to use it. Albert turned it inside out and added his own variables.

Isaac Newton formulated the law of gravity. EVERYBODY knew about gravity but only in a vague everyday way. This was the man who explained why planets move the way they do.
