Wishful thinking is pretty much the basis of a political movement, too. OF course Mexico will build the wall for us. It’s going to happen any day now. Just like the tooth fairy will leave money under my pillow for the tooth that’s been there since 1955. She’ll be by any day now.
how dare you, you plant murderer…rather cast the inedible parts of the vegetation to dry and build up and then wonder and complain when a fire erupts and takes out everything in its path with little to no threat of being extinguished cuz that would mean taking water away from plants that will cycle out and dry up and perpetuate your vaunted cycle?
I’ve been prparing for tomorrow by working on a song.
I haven’t gotten too far, just a few lines.
“Donny the Felon…was an evil greedy soul…” sung to the tune of “Frosty the Snowman”
Anyone with more talent who could help flesh this out?
Have you been unlucky enough to see the official photo of the Fuhrer? Wow. Talk about touching up a photo, where’s the Turkey Neck? And the pallor of his hide? They made him look 35 years old. Well, every thing about the Orange Felon is a fake, why would that be any different?
I heard a comment once years ago that “Man will be his own extinction level event”. That has been stuck in my head ever since. Kind of like Caesar’s slave whispering “Memento Mori” into his ear.
It has been suggested that technological intelligence is a lethal trait for a species, and that is why we haven’t found any evidence of other intelligent life out there.
I wonder if Wiley just sits back with a cup of coffee to watch the comments after he posts a controversial topic in the comic strip of the day. Like throwing one chicken to a couple of alligators… :D
It’s actually the AI humanoid robots that will replace all humans. But hey if you don’t believe me go ask Elon Musk. He plans to eventually have 5 robots for ever human by 2030
LIFE AFTER PEOPLE is a TV series about what would happen to the earth if humans just vanished. The news is not good for most animals, particularly the domesticated ones. On top of everything else, nuclear reactors would wipe out vast swaths of life.
I find it amazing that Wiley constantly experiments with new drawing styles. I’m quite fond of his recent work featuring thick, rounded, clean lines, with flat and bright colors, and I want to say this Sunday’s strip is a fantastic illustration of this style..
Some don’t like my opinion of fact. The 1% of people who have ever lived that mattered are just going down with the rest of us. We are all interchangeable when it comes to the big picture. Figured out the wheel, fire, all the great inventions, cured some things, none of which any of the rest of us is going to do. It’s amazing how much they have managed to do with the rest of us pulling them down and only providing labor. Sorry, most of us aren’t special.
a moot point. the planet-wide total extinction event originally estimated to be underway by 2100, has been moved up to sooner than 2075 as the magic 1.5 degC mark was passed sooner than anticipated.
I think it’s funny that we understand the principle of “thinning the herd,” when it comes to overpopulation. When the deer population explodes, there’s not enough food for them all, so killing off the excess actually improves the survival chances for the remaining population, by preventing starvation, disease, and insufficient habitat.
Yet somehow, as people, we think we can just keep expanding our numbers infinitely without repercussions.
All of human history can be viewed in the context of our being unwitting pawns in the planet’s longest-running war — the one between the trees and the grasses — the former bribing us with fruits and nuts and the latter with grains and roots into supporting their own long-range quest for world domination.
Strictly speaking, “prophesy” is explanation, not prognostication. When the moving finger wrote “mene mene tekel upharsin” on Belshazzar’s wall, that was a prognostication. Daniel the Prophet then was called upon to explain the prognostication.

Is it right to also eliminate those of us that don’t hunt … even though we buy products and food from the people that destroy the habitats?

Yes, Lucy, that’s true. Much prophecy seems to be based on the views and intentions of the seer.

I actually hope it’s true. Humans do more damage than otherwise. Time to go.
