My solution! I swear, I am an intelligent woman, educated at the Master’s level, but, when it comes to organizing, at least at the household level, I’ cannot, and I am 60 yrs,. old. I say that the organizing “gene” just skipped me. I believe that my brain is just not wired that way. I cannot take a pile of clutter and just fully organize it. At least, not to my satisfaction

My own mom is not a clutter keeper and wants to downsize. When I worked required to stay organized, at home not so much.My daughter and fiancé went to a small town had word two months later of his sister who died from a clot. They went to gather what they could and went into shock upon entering Federal apartment how much stuff his sister bought, reminded them of a hoarder. They brought with the most essential and left the rest there. Her Federal income she overspent.

I am very organized. (family pokes fun) But it is self-serving, I get very frustrated when I can’t find something I need – like scissors – my answer is have a place for everything and to put things back in their place after they are used. The home place for things is where they are used the most, which makes it easy. Now when I need the scissors, I just go get them – no searching, no frustration – I am happy. Most people wait until they are buried in flotsam and the job seems too big to tackle, but you only have to do it once and keep it up – it’s well worth it!

My family considers me to be a hoarder, and I probably am. But I just never have the energy to go through all the old family photos, letters and accumulated paperwork sitting in forbidding boxes and bags…
