    Wow. I learned something today from Overboard. Because every picture of Captain Smith that exists is in black and white, I had always thought that the Titanic captain had a completely white beard like Santa Claus!

    I was just listening to GordonLightfoot’s “Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald” on UTube. That is another sad tragedy.

    Like most catastrophes, it took a number of events to sink the Titanic. One was the last ice report that never made it to the Captain. Another was not recognizing the importance of radio communications to safety at sea, leading to paid personal messages taking precedence over ice reports.
