With DJ becoming POTUS, 2017 may well be even worse than 2016….

An insult to the birth of a fictional character? Says the person going in to purchase their christmas cheer.

There are far more “hints” that Jesus Christ was the Prince of Peace and the Redeemer of Mankind. Certain the synoptic Gospels, composed during the lifetimes of many of the witnesses to the Holy Miracle of His life, are the most reliable sources of information on His life – especially His death – and ministry.

One need not be a Christian to celebrate His birth; His voluminous and widely-disseminated teachings are a sufficient reason for joy for all mankind. One need not wait for the actual anniversary of his birth – admittedly unknown – to celebrate peace on earth and good will toward others.

HAH! Funny. The whole myth still lives though it’s on the wane. Can’t wait for the horrors that are religion die out.

This has rapidly become one of my favorite strips. Cheer up RJ, (and Mr. Lewis and Mr. Fry) we’ll be fine.

Scotch, Vodka, Gin, Heroin, Hashish. This may be the only way to handle the next 4 years as all the progress we made to bettering our world are stripped away.

I used to think our audience was turning old and cynical. But I’m cheered by today’s responses, both supportive and not. Christmas time (for believers or not) is the celebration of the birth of an idea… peace on Earth, goodwill toward all of us. I’m both concerned and hopeful for 2017. I’m concerned about the direction the world is headed, but hopeful from my study of history that we humans have a way of surprising even ourselves. Merry Christmas! Happy Holidays! And to all a very, VERY, good New Year. – Michael Fry, writer/co-creator of Over the Hedge.

That’s the Roman functionaries’ story, and all fans of dictatorship have been repeating it since. In between bragging about how they won the coup, of course.

“Why? It’s not like Joshua Ben Joseph was actually born on December 24th, 0. More likely some when in spring of 6 B.C. or so. So that liquor store is a disgrace to the pagan mid-winter celebration we call Christmas nowadays.”

It’s just that me and past generations (since 1900) loathe alcoholism, drug abuse and swearing. But today, it’s “no big thing” to the likes of heathens such as yourself!
