My least favourite well-used phrase? When people say “it’s fine” in reply to an apology, etc., but very clearly don’t mean it. I’m also not keen on “I’m good” as a response to “How are you?” What phrases of this sort do others here dislike?
Avoiding the phrase “quite simply” is quite simple. You quite simply leave out the word “quite” and just say “simply”. Quite simple, really.

I agree with Sally. Also, I can’t stand presenters saying “As we all know”. If we all know, why are you talking to us? :D

How many times have you said, " I say this with quite difficulty, that this was the best book I have ever read"?

Sally is quite bizzare.

People who say “quite simply” bug me a lot less than people who use “literally” incorrectly.

You hate the people who say it, or the phrase?

Did Sally change her mind because it was starting to smell?

So just say, “This is the best book I have ever read.” Unless it falls below the book-report minimum word count.

I’d like to “debunk” that theory….

This may be, “quite simply” the best comic strip ever…

Do you mean that you hate people who say the phrase “quite simply”, or those who say the word “quite” in a simple manner?
Although I suppose I can’t think of a complex way to say the word “quite”.

Schulz’s own opinion of “the best book I ever read” might be “The Great Gatsby,” although he was also a fan of “Anna Karenina.”
For me, it’s “Cannery Row.”

I would have said “basically”

It probably ain’t “Ten Days That Shook the World” but I hear that one is real good. I really liked his earlier “Insurgent Mexico”
