Where’s the swatter when you need it?
Spray it as soon as you can.
I thought the animal who kills the most humans is the human.
Thank you for letting people know that Malaria kills over 400,000 people a year in Africa.
The mosquito is only the vector, Plasmodium falciparum does the killing….
Three Zebra strips in a row. I hope Pastis is bringing the character back regularly.
Time to get out a fly swatter or an aerosol of Raid.
Did you know… that pearls before swine showed up in a Henry Stickmin game, it was in the back in the completing the mission
Bruce is correct!
“He” is innocent.
Thank you for noticing Mr. Pastis.
Not true. My folks used to take us camping. Annual mosquito safari.
Wow, Pastis might read these comments? So now we must fear the recursive mosquito pun?
One mosquito said to the other “What’s happening Sucker” !
Dang. Where’d I puts me mosquitoe bat now.
Parasites are the worst things on earth. Including the human ones.
Biting commentary Mr Pastis
Mosquitoes are very popular. evrybody claps when the see one.
I’m surprised at Mr. Pastis’ lead time, unless he just guessed well.
Just smack that little sucker.
I got bitten by a mosquito and now I can’t stop singing “Nessun Dorma”
I think I might have male-aria.
Technically, mosquitoes don’t kill people. They spread parasites, and the parasites kill people.
When a mosquito lands on your “private” parts is the moment when you realize that violence is not the answer
Mosquitos aren’t animals, they’re insects.
It isn’t a mosquito that kills most humans. It’s man.
No “he” mosquitoes have ever killed anyone. It’s the females that pass the pathogens and parasites.
The mosquito is some of Stephan’s best artwork.
Awww Zeeba so cute! Mosquitos not so much! What happened to the hippo? Pig is…well PIG!
$54 bucks a month is worth the yard treatment here in ‘marshland’!
Mosquitoes aren’t “animals”.
The human has the smallest understanding of his purpose and place. the hoofed, pawed and multi legged have always understood since their survival depends on it. The human also does a lot of assuming and self proclaiming, the rest do not.
Pig throwing Zebra under the bus. It was Pig who said that hippos kill the most humans. Zebra was just taking a few guesses. In a totally unrelated note, the brand Off! should use this strip as an advertisement.
It’s not so much the mosquito, as its passengers.
Don’t think a mosquito is an animal. I thought it was an insect. However, I still don’t any of those buggers mad at me, whatever they are…….
There’s a vaccine for that….
Mosquitoes? But what about the tseste fly? They can also be very deadly, especially since they carry sleeping sicknesses.
The only thing worse than having an angry hippo tip over your boat on the river is when it is done by a swarm of mosquitos!
Bugs do rule the World. They outnumber us by over a million to one.
Well the biters are ladies, and guys must be very very careful what they say to ladies or suffer the slings and arrows ranging from the-silent-treatment to jail time.
Not an animal. An insect. Just Sayin’.
My favorite character in more than one strip in the same week? Sweet
The control of mosquitoes is relatively simple and well understood. But lack of resources and unstable governments prevent it from happening.
Still not true. Mosquitos kill indirectly, the bacteria and parasites they carry do the real killing. Hippos kill directly.
Safari comes to us from the Arabic word safara, which means to travel.
Yesterday’s strip was correct and this one is wrong. Mosquitoes don’t kill anyone – they just propagate the little bastard that does. They vector the single celled organism Plasmodium falciparum (in South America, Plasmodium vivax) into humans via their anti-coagulant saliva when they bite you. P. falciparum and vivax kill you by feeding on the globular protein subunits of the haemoglobin in your blood. Saying the mosquito kills people is like saying that someone who died of a heroin overdose stabbed himself to death with the syringe.
Animal, Vegetable, or Mineral? Insects are animals.
It’s understandable that crocs should eat zeebas. Zeebas are ugly. Crocs just trying to make the world a little less ugly.
Nobody has pointed out the fact that Pig is lying.
It was him, not Zebra, that said hippos kill the most people yesterday.
Oh Dear God, even the mosquitoes are now whining about what they perceive as a micro aggression. What ever that is.
humans are MAMMALS not animals
The Animal Kingdom (Animalia) consists of the following Phyla (plural of Phylum):
1) Porifera – Marine animals more commonly known as sponges.
2) Cnidaria – Mostly marine animals that include coral, jellyfish, and anemones.
3) Platyhelminthes – Typically parasitic flatworms (examples include tapeworms and flukes).
4) Annelida – Segmented and symmetrical worms containing a nervous system, respiratory system, and sense organs. Examples include the common earthworm and leeches.
5) Mollusca – Invertebrates with soft unsegmented bodies. Examples include clams, mussels, and snails.
6) Arthropoda – Invertebrate animals with an exoskeleton and segmented bodies. Contains insects, crustaceans, and arachnids. Examples include scorpions, butterflies, and shrimp.
7) Chordata – Vertebrates. Animals that develop a notochord, a cartilaginous skeletal rod that supports the body in embryo and can often become a spine. Examples include dogs, horses, birds, and humans.
All organisms in the kingdom Animalia are multicellular. They are eukaryotes (cells contain membrane-enclosed organelles. They lack the cell walls and starch-storing plastids found in plant cells. All have DNA enclosed in a nuclear membrane. The nucleus sets eukaryotes apart from prokaryotes. Prokaryotic cells contain DNA, but they lack a nucleus and other membrane-enclosed organelles. Animals are heterotrophic organisms (depend on external food sources for energy [carnivore, herbivore, omnivore).
SWAT IT! SWAT IT BEFORE IT BITES YOU! Stop it from spreading disease.
Now you’ve done it, Pig (and Zeeba Neighba, too)! The Most Deadly African Animal (sic) is in your house! You are doomed!
Wrong gender. Only female mosquitos bite.
