Sorta insanely ironic that Mr. Pastis chose Bloom County for one(1) of his references, as the ONLY other comic strip I’m currently in the “middle” of catching up on, by way of the other “tab” I’m keeping open on google chrome right now, is the one(1) he mentioned!!!! (But also weird he mentioned Calvin and Hobbes, my other top favorite comic strip of ALL TIME!!!! Him and I share GREAT TASTE, but NOT less filling….) Dan aka…

Calvin once said he’d be remembered as the legendary type. He was right. Calvin and Hobbes “died,” but they are forever remembered and will continue to be. I have a good feeling Pearls will also be remembered under a legendary level as well.

Some classic strips live long after their creators died or moved on and the strip itself stopped. We “Pogo” fans continue to love the strip and treasure our copies of the book to this day. And Walk Kelly died back in the 1970s.

Calvin & Hobbes not only exists, it is the comic I read just before Pearls every day. The humor, the issues and Waterson’s imagination are timeless. Many years ago, when I subscribed to a newspaper, Bloom County appeared daily. After trying for about a week, I decided I no longer needed to even look at it. Never regretted that choice.

Calvin and Hobbes live forever in reruns. Berkley’s last iteration of Bloom County ended during the Plague Years. Although the classics are replayed for those who missed them.
