It’s amazing how far right the nation has gone. In truth, Hillary is a Republican – she’s probably farther right than George H. W. Bush was (or is), and certainly is a strongly pro-corporate, pro-war, anti-labor politician. She’s socially more liberal, but not even all that far that way – she and her husband were pretty weak on LGBTQ issues, for example, and still are.The reason the Clintons are so loathed by the GOP is because they figured out the GOP’s main source of campaign income: corporations.Bernie Sanders, demonized as “socialist,” “Communist,” a believer in fantasy, is really a New Deal Democrat. He’s not proposing anything radical at all; FDR wouldn’t have been surprised by anything he proposed — he introduced the minimum wage, for example. Sanders’ views are absolutely middle-of-the-road boring in Europe, where most of what he is talking about has been done for decades and is taken for granted (and it works, too, contrary to the myth makers). There is NO real left-wing party in the US anymore. The Green Party is trivial; there is no real Labor Party.Don’t believe me? Try looking at Teddy Roosevelt’s Progressive Party platform in 1912 and ask yourself whether modern mainstream Democrats would support that platform, let alone Republicans!http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/americanexperience/features/primary-resources/tr-progressive/
