Very nicely contrasted. I think of him as having been smart, forceful, amoral… and having terrible taste in eyeglasses.

Henry has a lot of heavy karma to face for his next thousands of reincarnations.

You illustrated this well. He did some good and some amoral things at best.

His diplomacy was pragmatic only if you’re a fan of war and mass slaughter.

Finally a ‘toon that tells it like it was, instead of all these insipid Kissenger at "heaven’s gate" BS drawings. If the woo-woo was real, he’d be toasted by Lucifer himself.

Was he offended or flattered by “Dr. Strangelove”?

The formulator of Mutually Assured Destruction (MAD). He told the USSR that any use of nuclear weapons in a first strike would unleash a U.S. counterstrike so devastating it would end alll life on the Earth. No idea if the USSR ever comtemplated such an actuon but it put to an end any thoughts by them that such a strike could succeed.

He should have served a life sentence in Spandau, or something like it. Or served on a work crew unearthing land mines.

I sincerely doubt that he ever factored in the number of American military lives ruined and ended as he helped perpetuate a war that was nothing more than ideologies. We had to kill a lot of Asians to try to get them to understand how good Democracy is. Maybe the Chileans appreciated what Henry got for them too.

My guess is that he supported strongly the subsequent trading with former enemies. Nothing says American like buying an article of clothing that is made in Vietnam. The first time I saw one on a store shelf I knew how those WW II vets felt when they saw the USA selling many Japanese products in the 1950s including a couple of automobile brands.

The one thing everyone seems to be forgetting, Kissinger negotiated the withdrawal of US troops out of Vietnam. Effectively ending the US war in Vietnam.
