I recall a Calvin and Hobbes strip where Calvin plans to get rich quick with corn kernels. Hobbes wondered how does that work. Calvin responds by putting them under his pillow, the tooth fairy will mistake the kernels for teeth and will give Calvin quite a load of cash.
I did the same as Opal only I took a piece of off white paper, folded it just so, made a few marks with a red pencil to look like blood and taped it up. It looked like a tooth and my mom said she had to look at it twice.
If he thinks he may have swallowed it and really wants that money ($.25 in 1956= $2.75 today), just put some newspapers down on the bathroom floor the next time he has to go and ….
next morning “remember” spot the kid told you he put it to stay safe … then when he goes to check it out he finds a quarter there instead of tooth … fairy found it already and left money
When my son was young and lost a tooth at school and couldn’t find it to give it to the Tooth fairy, I had him write a letter explaining the circumstances and put it in place of his lost tooth. I still have the letter.

Well, the bean does have a tad more nutritional value.

I do not believe that I am familiar with any laws concerning the tooth fairy.

Gran used to run with a pretty tough crowd.

I’ve always respected the Tooth Fairy (she pays cash), but she is fast and loose with the rules.

… And that’s how, about 70 years ago, a certain rich little boy’s nanny first sent him on his long journey along the road to perdition.

Strange, I read all C&H at least twice and don’t remember that episode.

Counterfeit but used as a substitute. What does the fairy do with all those teeth anyway? How does a walrus tusk rate?

This kid definitely needs to be around other kids.

Nelson, it’s no more illegal than lying to kids about the Tooth Fairy.
Queen of America Premium Member 4 months ago
Well, there’s no future in politics for Nelson, is there?

No, just colossally immoral, Nelson.

When I was a kid, the tooth fairy price was a dime. I wonder what it is up to now.

Seems he has learned something worthwhile. Not easy to build reasonable circumstance onto fact.

Since she really did lose a tooth, I think the tooth fairy was okay with the substitution.

I tried that with a kernel of corn when about Nelson’s age and got nothing.

A quarter? With inflation a tooth is worth much more these days.
Sailor46 USN 65-95 4 months ago
Well, morally it borders on fraud.

A quarter? When I was a kid, we only got a dime. And I’m as old as she is.

I am that age also, and I think you are right. We got dimes. Our kids got quarters. I remember hearing of other kids who got more.
