suppose that cake was for the church ladies’ group get-together?

I usually start at the corner, but sometimes it’s hard to start there, especially when it’s a bit overcooked. Starting in the middle may make sense.

While I completely disagree with Opal’s ridiculous stance in the 1st panel, what kind of a selfish monster cuts a square out of the middle of the cake?!

Whoever cut the square out of the cake(wonder who?), that was simply rude and uncalled for. Wonder how a perfect square was removed from the center.

Earl takes the cake……

Were I to take a piece of cake like that it wouldn’t be, “Then the fight started.” It would be, “And then he died.”

Geez, people — this is a cartoon — As Bart would say, “Don’t have a cow!”

I think that Earl just likes to drive Opal crazy.

the same kind of person that cut a slice of pizza from the middle.

Opal could fill The Library of Congress with a list of things Earl does to tick her off.

I was hoping we’d get to read his list.

Grrrrr! My husband does this. He cuts a tomato in such a way that he gets the fattest middle slice and I get the edges. Same thing with bread. It would be just like him to eat the middle piece in a cake pan.

Earl was playing Tic-Tac-Toe ?!

It’s ok to take the middle piece of a bundt cake though.

There was no problem with the list until you started harping on it, Opal!

I thought she baked it that way.

What a weird way to hold a cake.

I generally would not just take the first piece and especially not until my wife has partly cut the cake for the first few slices.

Most people like an edge piece. Earl is the exception, yet I cannot see how he puts up with Opal’s CONSTANT nagging and complaining.

We ALLLLLL like the sweet spot…..

I’m actually impressed with that.

I’ll take an edge piece most every time. A corner even better. Just let some of the mandatory ice cream melt into it somewhere along the line. Now, after breakfast…

Everyone has a super power.

Earl and Opal are a good example of why the gray divorce rates are increasing.

I prefer the corner pieces myself.

Do you mean you don’t like the way she’s standing, or her opinion of Earl? Either one works for me. I don’t like Opal, but her sister’s okay.

Goodness, is that frosting and IN THE PAN!? Anyway, that is the thickest piece, and there’s no 3-sides with frosting.

Earl never said the list is about her. He is allowed to make his own list and she should mind her own business.

So now its the “War of Lists”?

I think Opal hates everything about Earl… Earl just wants to enjoy life…

I always prefered corners of everything, although the edges were fine too. Earl’s a D_CK!

Wonder if he does that pentagram thing with pizzas, where instead of cutting wedges that meet at the center, you get five slices for the points, five for the gaps between the points, and one five-sided piece from the middle of the pie.

I don’t like the crusty, usually burnt edges either…

Ah yes….the sweet spot!

That just might be a way to relieve stress. You should try it too, Opal.

My dad and my younger brother are both guilty of cutting “keyholes” out of the middle of the cake or brownies, lol (oh, and my brother likes to cut irregular/diagonal pieces)
