I’ve resisted tread mills in gym and went for strength, got into the tread mill and tomorrow I’m going to start walking backwards…supposed to be great for legs!
No way at my age I’m going to do sit-ups! I’d never get up off the floor!
I walk 4 kilometers while exercising my arms with small 3lb. dumbells, or work out with weights for 45 minutes a day – that’s enough for this almost 80-year-old body!
All my exercises with free weights are done either standing or sitting and are designed for maintaining muscle flexibility and toning rather than body-building and strength. It’s an ideal workout program for men my age or younger to keep the cardio-vascular system pumping and retain muscle and skin tone without strain or injury.
my sister actually believes that you can simply visualize exercising and you’ll get the same benefits, but here’s the kicker: she exercises…why? I don’t know why…why bother if you can just think about it and…oh jeez…fuggedaboudit!
He’s got that right. At a certain age you have to warn your body about what’s coming, then it tells you that what you’re planning isn’t going to happen.

Some people recommend against sit-ups for old people. Plank is recommended, although I find it to be unpleasant.

Every time I get down on the floor, I have to do one sit-up to get up.
But probably happens more often when I’m tending to the garden.

Earl a short daily walk will help you out more in the long run than trying to do 1 sit-up ;-)

Earl, you’re supposed to use a Yoga mat, not a mattress.

Even the military has replaced situps with planks. Planks are better for you.

I can’t do sit-ups unless I have something to hook my feet under, makes it hard to find a good place.

As a former student of Charles Atlas, that’s just about what a stomach exercise looks like.
