I think them being white gets you 80% of the way there, unless you’re in close proximity to a tennis court.

Have casual dress shoes. Which I never match with suits. Although, I have two tone spectator shoes. Which would serve. No longer produced.

In summer, can you wear leather sandals with a suit?

When I was in HS I liked to go “casual” by wearing jeans and sneakers with my blazer; now “dress up” is blazer & jeans + loafers (tie optional).

Q: why was the baby shoe crying?

A: because he found out his mother was a sneaker and his father was a loafer.

Not just pluggers. My nephews’ prom picture showed twelve couples — all the young women wore beautiful, long dresses and heels [not stiletto] and all the young men wore slick tuxedos and sneakers. I believe Converse was the more popular brand. Gradually, people are learning that foot comfort is far more important than foot fashion.

I don’t have “formal” sneakers, but my dress shoes are a comfy pair of flats.

When sandals are your daily footwear, of course, you have dress sneakers. :)

Husband doesn’t understand when I say don’t wear your go to town shoes at home. If you wear them out at home, they are no longer good shoes.

Closest things I have to formal shoes are Nike “Referee” shoes, a pair of black Keen Truckee shoes, dark blue Keen Versatrails and a pair of black Versatrails. I gave away my suits and ties when I hung up my shingle. I think the pictured plugger has one of my old ties.

All I have anymore is two pair of sneakers. One pair for the shop and one pair when I go out, even to funerals.

Or in this Plugger’s case, dress (cheap knockoff) Crocs – sneakers squish my toes together, & I hate that! #SquareFeet #DiabeticFeet

Those bright white sneakers can really draw attention away from even the best suit/outfit.

Like in OG Starsky and Hutch. Q-“Why is your partner wearing red sneakers with his tux?” A=“Because the blue ones are in the wash.”

I have black DVS shoes with stone-gray “saddles” that I at times wear with black slacks and a stone-gray necktie. So I guess I’m a plugger.

Personally, I think the guy who invented the tie was a bigger jerk. Oh yeah, let me wear a noose around my neck for hours at a time. No thank you.

My husband will get dressed in 18th century reproduction clothing – breeches, long stockings (socks) to his thighs, huge big shirt, long white piece of cloth wrapped around his neck, waistcoat (vest) and coat (suit jacket equivalent), and tri-corner hat for fun at reenactments, but on the EXTREMELY rare occasions that he should wear a jacket and tie – he will do anything to avoid doing so.

(And he has me in the women’s clothing of the period also – including a set of stays, the only garment other than our hats that I could not sew for us and we had to have custom made. And yes, other than hats, stays and stockings I made all of our other clothing for the hobby.)
