A coworker ended up returning a freshcut Christmas tree to the tree lot because his young daughter had an allergic reaction. Tru story!

I have a contact allergy to pine trees. If I keep my arms covered, I can keep it under control, but if my inner arms touch the needles or the sap, I break out in tiny red ITCHY dots. Thankfully nothing more serious, but darned aggravating.

Have not taken allergy meds since I retired ! Don’t know what was in that building but if I touched cardboard without gloves I would get hives for several minutes . The meds helped keep that in check . Now that I’m out of there no problem with cardboard ! And no more meds ! :-)

O Christmas Trees, O Christmas trees,

    How fragrant are your branches!

O Christmas Trees, You make me sneeze

So hard my whole face blanches!

I’m nearly knocked right off my feet,

And tissues pile up into the street

O Christmas trees, O Christmas trees,

I’d prefer that you were plastic!

My wife and I haven’t had a real tree since we got married. Both of us are allergic to them. And I couldn’t see the sense of cutting down a tree for a few weeks of decoration.

Haven’t had a real tree in 29 years, or an artificial one in five. With just the two of us, there is rarely any gifts to put under the tree.

This plugger uses the same 5 foot artificial he has had for at least 30 years. Mind it is getting Charlie brownish so perhaps a new string of lights might be in order.. next year.

Yes, there are a lot of ‘tree allergies’… especially when you bring in a non-native species into your home from outside your geographic locale – i.e… Christmas trees.

He’s not sneezing, he’s calling his Chinese servant. “Ah-Choo, please bring me my Allegra!”

I’m allergic to Christmas trees. Unfortunately, I live in “Christmas Town, USA.” I don’t plan on breathing for a month or two here in Shelton, WA. :)

There was an article on “Christmas Tree Syndrome” on the internet today. Even artificial trees cause problems for some people.

Husband’s family always had an artificial tree – back to at least the middle 1950s. (I did not even know same existed then). My family did not have anything Christmas. So we have always had an artificial tree. (One big advantage – no, not that – it drops “needles” like crazy, is that if I need a branch just a little off from where a branch is – it can easily be bent to where I need it.)

Oh, and we put up 4 trees in different rooms – main big tree in living room, small trees in upstairs hall teddy bear village with ornaments of bears, one in our studio with ornaments we have made and one in our dining room of brass Colonial Williamsburg ornaments.
