    My brothers always rode their bikes. But that can be dangerous. More than one kid has been hit on his or her bicycle while delivering papers.

    I think the days of the youth paperboy/girl are over. I actually had two routes as a kid — one in morning and one for the afternoon paper.

    Paper routes have gone the way of the dinosaur. But before it died, helicopter parents destroyed the work lessons the job taught.

    My paper route was in a city, in a neighborhood with houses, not apartment blocks, and on a hill with a 30-degree slope. I walked it. I developed very powerful legs, without noticing that it was happening.
