I’m not a fan of the death penalty myself, but I don’t believe a country that continues to use it can be called uncivilized. If that is your qualification for civilization then the US is uncivilized as are the majority of nations.

You’re calling Egypt, a country that has been highly civilized for 5000 years and Iran, home to the highly civilized and prosperous Persian Empire which lasted for a thousand years uncivilized??

I feel sadness for the innocents on both sides. You can trace the roots of the conflict back to the Balfour declaration during WWI. There’s plenty of blame to go around. The problem is that the extremists on both sides don’t want peace. If peace came they would lose their ability to hold power through fear. I’d bet if you asked ordinary Israelis and Palestinians the majority would favor finding a way to live together peacefully.

Somalia and ISIS are not Iran. It’s one thing to send in a small team of highly trained professionals against a group of terrorists such as ISIS or glorified street gangs like Somalia and quite another to send them into a country equipped with modern technology and weapons in the hands of a well trained military such as Iran. In no way am I disparaging the ability of our soldiers, I’m simply saying that there are situations where the risks outweigh the benefits, especially when negotiations are possible.

You’re aware that Rambo was a movie right?

Ahh, in that case I beg your pardon. Unfortunately there seem to be enough clowns out there for both of us.

Wrong decade. Cathy’s Clown by the Everly Brothers was a big hit in the late 50’s. I graduated from high school in 60 and that song still brings back memories of the girl I was dating at the time.

Let’s look at some facts. Jesus spoke Aramaic and left no writings. The Epistles and Gospels were written in Greek many decades after Jesus lived mostly by people who never knew him. Those Greek writings were some centuries later translated into Latin by Jerome. After another thousand years the Latin Bible was translated into English and other languages. Any time you translate from one language to another some of the meaning is lost. Words can undergo subtle changes in meaning over time. The culture of Judea two thousand years ago was very different from our own. The Bible might contain some worthwhile ideas for living a good life but to believe that an English translation of a Latin translation of a Greek translation of someone who spoke Aramaic are the actual words of god are an incredible stretch.

I’ve heard more intelligent comments from six year olds in playground arguments.

Well, how about the freedom to read. Republicans are banning books in public libraries . Freedom to travel, Republicans in Texas are trying to prevent women from traveling to other states to get abortions. Freedom to receive medical care. Republicans are banning treatment for sexual issues. I could go on but I think I’ve made my point.
