Get your point about charging stations. I did a search for nearby ones, and it turns out that there are three or four (Level 2) within ten miles of me in my suburban/semi-rural area. They’re not exactly in convenient locations (gas stations have taken most of those). But neither are the locations inconvenient or ones that one wouldn’t go to— just places that one doesn’t normally go past. Inconvenient is too strong a word; just say that they would need to make a change in existing traffic patterns. That’s something that is never easily done.

I guess I’d say that if charging stations are to be the bottleneck that EVs have a longer row to hoe than their proponents would like to believe.

Steel-toed safety shoes were one of the requirements for the (chemical) plants I’ve worked in. Our employer allowed one pair per year as a fringe.

There was story on the internet yesterday about states (something like twenty) fixing to impose a standard yearly fee on EVs, mostly to replace anticipated lost fuel tax income. That fee would be pretty much what they guess the lost income would be. Though, politics being what it is, sometimes it would be a bit more.

I’ve never bought an EV, or even considered one. Live in the distant suburbs of a large city in the Midwest. There’s little “short” driving here. My 30-mile drive from home to where I used to work (now retired) is not atypical. Can’t say that I’ve seen (or heard of) a charging station; though my job title (“energy conservation engineer”) indicates that I should, if one existed. So to this point, EVs are just a pipe dream in my sort of rural world.
