Must be Biden’s fault, right MAGA folks?
^A career SERVING the American people since President Reagan, discovered how to re-dose cancer drugs that flipped the mortality rate (98%) to a remission rate of 93%, developed therapies for three FORMERLY fatal diseases, worked to help solve the HIV crisis, drove development of biodefense drugs post-9/11, the 13th most cited scientist among ALL (3 millionish) authors (2003), provided advanced warnings for the swine flu and ebola pandemics, awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom by George W. Bush (2008) And you dare compare him to Mengele? REALLY?
Fauci, and his work, saved more lives in his career than almost any human being. But because the previous president and his MAGA crowd turned him into a scapegoat by POLITICIZING science you get a chance to display your ignorance.
Personally, I agree but I’d also consider Andrew Johnson. His actions/inactions set the template for race relations that still are an issue today.
Agreed, way more than is necessary; way less concern about how it’s spent (fraud isn’t even considered as far as I know). But we do spend lots and lots on Education: 800 billionish (all levels of gov’t) and Healthcare: 1.2 trillionish (just federal spending). Could be done much more efficiently and maybe more completely if they were prioritized as defense spending is.
Which dimension is best?
I plead, the Fifth.
Very possible. However, I still like to think that the judgement of History matters.
I’m not advocating increasing or decreasing taxes, just thought a broader perspective was needed. You get what you pay for, right?
Oh, I think we do spend lots of $$$, but it’s done so inefficiently and often incompletely that we end up with such poor statistics compared to other countries.
Decades ago, I made an error on my tax form. The IRS caught it, sent us a check for 900+ dollars. In general, I am not a fan of bureaucracies. However, they are necessary. “Horror” stories get the spotlight; the workers there are just people. To blanket generalize is simple-minded.
“Taxes are what we pay for a civilized society.” (Oliver Wendell Holmes)
I think there’s much more scrutiny by the GOP regarding the other agencies.
