A skydiving helmet isn’t to protect one from hitting the ground at terminal velocity, any more than a hard hat protects a construction worker from a falling, multi-ton steel girder. Hard hats protect workers from dropped hand tools. The skydiving helmet is to deal with an ordinary landing, which can still be quite rough, particularly if you fail to land where you intend.

“I’m Gunther’s girl friend.”I hope that does not mean that’s all she means to be. Being firmly attached, loving and supporting, and all the rest, is fit and proper, but there are other things in life.

Yes, I think we can take it that Luann and Gunther’s not-a-date will be in a “it’s not what it looks like” situation when Bets goes in.

Off topic, but:I have always wondered about the irony in the middle frame of the Batman sequence. Mr. Wayne talks about how “superstitious” criminals are, and then immediately sees an “omen.” Is that supposed to be a joke? Subtlety is not characteristic of such comic books.

The “culling” is done better by the wolves, it’s not equal. But, I don’t quite agree with Wiley’s view here. If we are not going to allow large predators, something does have to be done about deer overpopulation. If the top of the food chain is a herbivore, the results can be pretty bad, both for the herbivore and the general ecology.

Thank you. I thought I might have it wrong.

I’m not sure what this is saying. The Obergefell v. Hodges ruling on same-sex marriage? That was based on the “equal protection” and “due process” clauses in the 5th and 14th amendments. Or is Wiley referring to something else?
