Shellie was my ‘service cat’ who helped me stay calm when I got her in 2009 from a cage in Petco Oro Valley AZ. I was still in ‘recovery’ from Shingles pain & paralysis from left knee down through sides, top, & bottom of foot. Saw our primary doctor on a Wednesday when I had severe pain in my leg he thought were just muscle spasms. That afternoon blisters came down my back & left leg covering sides top & bottom of left foot. When I saw him on Friday doctor made a near ‘fatal mistake’ giving me the shingle shot 72 hours after the blisters had arrived. Shellie stay with me every night. However in 2013 I had major back surgery to relieve sciatica. Told Shellie couldn’t sleep in bed with me for 3 days or so. I closed the bedroom door, but had no idea she was in the room. I got in bed & heard her questioning meow. Got up too quickly, spun around & sat down had on my tail bone. Didn’t damage the fusion at L5, but X ray indicated I had a fracture in one lower back bone. When everything had healed I was glad to have Shellie with me through the night . But last February X ray showed Shellie had a large growth in her stomach & surgery was ‘iffy’. She had gone from a 8 pound cat to 4 pounds. My wife, Sandy & I both had our hands on her when she was euthanized.
