(And blunebottle) The turkeys were hiding, to avoid being part of the Thanksgiving meal. The bottom turkey said it was safe to come out from hiding because nobody wanted turkey anymore. He was proven right by the person running away after (presumably) seeing them.
That’s the poet Robert Frost. One of his most famous poems is “Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening”, which contains the line “And miles to go before I sleep”.
