Foot binding was an upper class thing, and it was done to show that the girls came from wealthy families and had servants to do everything for them. Ordinary women had to work and needed fully functional feet. My wife’s family is from Hainan Island, and she has a pair of the shoes worn by her grandmother. They easily fit into the palm of my hand,

I had to take the Myers-Briggs during the orientation class for my job. Interesting, but soon forgotten.

Take it easy and enjoy the weekend! FYI, Washington, DC and vicinity are in the crosshairs of a Nor’easter on Saturday.

In olden days. you offered congratulations to the groom. It was considered impolitic to offer congratulations to a bride. “The reason for saying congratulations to the groom is to tell him “good job” for landing a wonderful woman who agreed to marry him. The bride, in comparison, is wished a happy marriage. Saying congratulations to the bride (traditionally) implies that she “finally” found someone or it was difficult for her to obtain a husband.” You were only supposed to offer her your best wishes. However, the times have changed, and congratulations for the bride are now the practice of the day.

The Angry Red Planet (1959) was a low budget movie about the first manned expedition to Mars. The Martians were not happy about the "invasion’.

I favor a specific Trail Designs vest. They last me about ten years. After I wore out the first one, I found an exact clone on a discount outdoors website. When that one wore out, I found a used one in excellent condition on eBay.

Someone loved isn’t really gone, as long as their memory lives on. My great-great-grandfather died before I was born. However, thanks to my grandmother’s stories, I carry memories about his life.

I had a fellow in my Bible study class who got a serious traffic ticket, one that would have had negative impact on the security clearance he needed for his classified Pentagon job. Going 20 miles+ over the speed limit made it reckless driving rather than simple speeding. He gladly paid the cost of the lawyer who guided him through the steps necessary to get the judge to reduce the charge (basically, voluntarily taking a remedial driving course before his court appearance). He had no regrets about what it cost him to protect his job.
