Whataboutism is: look at the US, it’s just as bad. Which it isn’t—it’s worse. This isn’t whataboutism, it’s questioning the reliability of the source.

Who knows how much, if any of it, is true? American media outlets have lost all credibility when it comes to Ukraine. “There are no Nazis there.” “Azov isn’t Nazi.” “Zelensky is Jewish so they don’t have Nazis.” “The US, which would do exactly the same if Mexico annoyed us, has every right to call out Russia.” “Ukraine is a democracy.” “Coup? What coup?” “Crimea was always Ukrainian.” I’m not saying it’s not true. I’ll wait for reliable news sources to confirm or deny these reports…sources that haven’t been caught lying again and again.

Even in Bangladesh, that’s going to be hard. 1/3 of Pakistan was recently underwater.

Whenever I criticize the United States, people like Uncle Joe point out wrongdoing in other countries. Their whataboutism is designed to deflect rather than address the criticism.

Cerabooge is correct. As much as I wish China would stop burning coal, I live in the United States, also a country that burns coal. First, it’s hypocritical to attack another country for doing what your own country does. Second, it’s ineffectual because the government of China doesn’t have any reason to care what the citizens of the United States, including a political cartoonist, believe.

Don’t get me wrong. Compensation is justifiable and fair. If you punch me in the nose, you should pay my medical bills. But it would also be great if you would stop punching me in the nose.

The problem is climate change. Compensation for developing countries doesn’t address the problem. The root cause is still the omission of greenhouse gases. I have no problem with the compensation except for the fact that it is being characterized as a solution to a problem.

Except for refusing to ban the death penalty, and not having national healthcare, and invading other countries all the time, we’re awesome.
