I heard a segment on the news yesterday. A reporter went around talking to immigrant communities in NYC, and it was kind of mind-boggling – green card holders saying “I wish I could vote for trump! I came here legally!” Same with recent immigrants. Ignoring the fact that trump’s first administration slashed legal immigration too.
They even talked to illegal (still) immigrants rooting for trump – “I’ve been here for decades! He’s talking about the new riff-raff! Throw them out!” Completely ignoring trump promising to deport 20 million people (do the math; that includes you).
Just like trump and musk could have a multi-hour circle jerk talking about how much they hate unions and want to break them – and yet pick up so much blue collar support.
It makes me think of that Simon and Garfunkle song – “A man hears what he wants to hear and disregards the rest.”

It doesn’t get pointed out enough, but on top of the batshit crazy legal “reasoning” of the opinion, the corrupt 6 put themselves in the position of declaring what’s “official” and what’s not. And they clearly intend to rule any corruption by trump as “official” and everyone else is left to their own devices.
So as long as anyone listens to them, they will protect republican corruption. But if you stop listening to them, you’re sliding down the slope to the dictatorship they’re enabling anyway. Lose – lose.
And without any apparent shame or integrity, they’re already talking about Attorney General Aileen Cannon. Why not? The corrupt 6 legalized COD bribery last session

In the 1970s, when Watergate was unfolding, they did a storyline in Captain America where the sitting president was the head of an evil, Hydra-like organization trying to seize dictatorial power. They didn’t name Nixon but it was clear. Steve Rogers quit being Captain America over it.
The Republicans have been planning to get the coup right ever since.

I remember an SNL skit in the 1980s that was almost identical – only people knew it was over the top back then.

Do they? In 2016 my wife and I both looked into getting Canadian or UK citizenship based on grandparents, and we found both had tightened up the old 1/32nd laws
At the time he resigned, the vast majority of Nixon’s criminality was not public knowledge – the real weaponization of the doj, the fbi, the irs, heck even the postal service. Nixon’s treason to get elected in 1968.
Now all that stuff is public knowledge and the gop still falsely say he was “unjustly hounded from office”
