It happened to me in real life. I was receiving terrible service at a McDonald’s (my grandchildren’s choice) and when I asked to speak to the manager, she was very nice to my face but then talked smack about me to the rest of the customers in Spanish. Much to her surprise, I understood what she said and responded to her “en Espanol.” Satisfying for me; embarrassing for her.
