I think you might have misunderstood my comment. I’m saying that if the Sox go wire to wire in last place this year, they will/may be the only MLB team to have gone wire to wire in first place (2005) and in last place (2024). BTW, according to Wikipedia, on May 11, the 1899 Spiders climbed out of the cellar into 11th place in the 12 team National League, so they didn’t go wire to wire in last place that season.

Oh, my White Sox are missing so much more than that. In 2005, the Sox were in first place every day of the season. So far this year, they’ve been in last place every day and look like they’ll be there the rest of the year as well. I’m not sure about this but suspect that no other team has ever gone wire to wire in first place and in last place.

You are correct, sir! Marty is sponsored by Hoo Dad’s Root Beer®. Marty has substituted our product for his alcoholic beverages and has been sober for a while now — still an alcoholic but staying sober day by day. Kudos to Marty. Now if there were only a way to control his rampant assholeism. Unfortunately, Hoo Dad’s Root Beer® hasn’t helped him with that yet.

As Gil-doh! said, we have an NIL deal with Rod that makes him the official HIGH SCHOOL spokesperson. Marty has a normal endorsement deal that makes him the official MEDIA spokesperson.

Rod’s reply: Oh Lord it’s hard to be humbleWhen you’re perfect in every wayI can’t wait to look in the mirrorCause I get better looking each dayTo know me is to love meI must be a hell of a manOh Lord It’s hard to be humble,But I’m doing the best that I can.

That being said, Rod is the official high school spokesperson for Hoo Dad’s Root Beer® so I’m not complaining about all the publicity he’s getting.

You would have fit in well at our Seder table.

Hey, Henry, no Passover Seder at Kaz’s place this year? To modify the first of The Four Questions, why is this year different from all other years — or at least from last year?

Your comment about Cami referring to him as Gil is spot on. Where’s the respect for Coach Thorp?

Not saying it never happens, but in my experience, the majority of pitchers are able to play other positions. Been coaching Little League for years and while they stop playing LL around here after age 13, the ones who go on to pitch in high school have already been identified. And they are multi-positional for the most part. I guess we have just had different experiences, but even the ones who are exclusively pitchers in high school do a better job of fielding grounders than Leo did in P1.
