The last new strip was on 21 May 2014. Derf handed over his archives over to GoComics when he retired from the weekly strip.

I believe this is Oliver. He’s the one between Tucker & Will in the page’s avatar panel.

I’m guessing those butchers were reasonably accurate with their guesses. My first real job was working mail & supply in a tiny government agency. The boss taught us to be reasonably accurate when handing out large quantities of certain items; envelopes, for example. I remember one employee complaining that I didn’t count out her large order of envelopes and the boss came over to reassure her. She called a little later, having counted them out herself, and was amazed that she received almost the exact amount that she wanted.

“George Lucas apparently named the film after his San Francisco telephone number, 849-1138”

That’s a good theory but there is no George Lucas with that number in San Francisco white pages from that period. Nor was it his phone number as a child, evidently that was 522-6953. The relevant phone books can be viewed online at the website for the Library of Congress.

There’s a guy in Pennsylvania who has his own private deer herd. The US Department of Agriculture checks on the tiny herd every so often to ensure their health & safety.
