My sister, brother-in-law, and I agree that my Chorkie furnephew is really a cat. He can spend all day lounging in comfortable spots.

I think Taffy’s a Welsh terrier. Taffy is a sort of corruption of the Welsh “Daffyd”, their form of David. (Remember the nursery rhyme, “Taffy was a Welshman/Taffy was a thief…”)

Never let it be said that Charlie Brown didn’t have his small victories now and then.

Nope, according to Schulz, he’s just got very light hair (what used to be called “tow-headed”) that’s mostly buzz-cut, as many boys used to wear their hair in the Fifties (after all, the strip started in 1950). To get a look at what a real-life Charlie Brown would probably look like, check out this All Oxi detergent commercial. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tFWJlt6LIc8&ab_channel=outlaw01

I think it was one of Sidney Paget’s illustrations for the original stories in Strand Magazine that first showed Holmes in a deerstalker.

Yeah, it wasn’t so much that he was neglected, it’s just that he was a literal dirt magnet. There were a few strips where he was clean, but nearly the second he stepped outside, the dirt and dust jumped onto him!

    Well, not by this point.
