well if you can get grass stains on the clothes from rolling on the carpet, I believe the carpet may have some problems.

you have heard of the “Town Drunk” well she is the “Town Rich Girl” when you are the only one it is hard to hang out with only yourself. Need to be with those you can at least attempt to Lord it Over.

Learned long before her age to never complain to a parent about being bored or having nothing to do. After age 7 it was never “Go play outside for awhile, it will do you good”. It was always “well this needs to be done” or “that needs to be done” and there was always the “go cleanup your room”.

Pedestal was Standard for the Radar Sites similar to the one where I was stationed. Can’t say it provided much cover if a firefight broke out. Darn hard to see around when shooting as well. Also don’t miss the funky rules of engagement that we had to follow in that country. Have not yet in the intervening 46 years figured out how to tell a bullet “You have to stop at that point right there and are not allowed to go any further.” And make that demand enforceable.

We can salt the earth with them? Like the Romans did at Carthage? Is that what they used and not just huge salt shakers?

Never had to wear any of the various versions. We just got issued those “Magical Green Fatigues” to handle that issue. That was along with our 100’ diameter Concrete Radar pedestal to use for cover. Plus 100 rounds for the weapon. Object being to take out whatever opposition we could, but mostly to make ourselves such a pain to deal with that they would call in “Indirect Fire” to deal with us. Having a “No POW” status was just such great fun, If things went south at the compound.

While Mom was conducive to using them for salad, getting Dad to agree to that was pretty much of a non-starter. Not that he objected to the salad, but was not will willing to trust the judgement of an 8-year old about how many and how old the plants would be needed for sustainable salad greens.
