I did like the “creative writing class” aspect of your comment and thought you may have meant the WHOLE comment to be tongu-in-cheek. But, as I wasn’t sure IF the whole comment was tongue in cheek, I mentioned that I thought the OP was meant as hyperbole.

Actually, I think “taking what you can and leaving the world worse off” is a truism for SELFISH folks of ALL ages. If we try for equity for folks, the world is better.

I too am “jaded” about it, but as it is a political document, my expectations were already low. Although not directly related…. I am actually far mor disheartened at the decimation of the US EPA as it transitioned from a scientific body that gave STRONG messages and DID impact environmental health….. to what it is unfortunately now…. a political body that no longer puts scientific evidence about the needs of the environment at the forefront. It is so sad to see how it has changed in the last 7-8 years. :(

  4. about 23 hours ago on Luann

I can understand your response when taking the OP’s comments as literal, but I truly think she meant it in a more hyperbolic fashion.

  5. about 24 hours ago on Luann

It is indeed a political “solutions” document, not embracing scientific evidence as strongly as it needs to. But, it is at least SOME small movement in the right direction.

  6. about 24 hours ago on Luann

I still think the risk/likelihood of a major failure will always be a risk in nuclear power. Even with improvements, I think the environmental impact of an accident makes nuclear power an unsafe option.

  7. about 24 hours ago on Luann

Yes, plant-based plastics would be a benificial solution.

  8. 1 day ago on Luann

I unfortunately think that the “other problems” of Chernobyl and Fukushima show us that nuclear power is NOT the correct direction to move towards.

Solar and wind power are much safer energy alternatives to fossil fuel. Dramatic reduction in the use and manufacture of “disposable” (single use) plastics would also be a significant help in reducing fossil fuel use.

Now….. THIS will be a grand story!!!!!! Joel will make the best substitute Santa ever! I am very much looking forward to this!

Doofus-Rufus….. will be a reasonably good, unimportant, side-kick elf…. until he does something that creates one helluva a mess.

I agree, his acting arcs were good and interesting…. but folks griped about that by-and-large….. and he was booted to the curb when that became too messy and stressful for Luann.
